For your reference:
Every year, PA organises the Soundwaves concert to celebrate Singapore’s diverse cultures and racial harmony. This concert is a significant event in Singapore’s cultural calendar as it provides opportunities for thousands of Singaporeans and foreign residents in Singapore to come together and enjoy the dance, music, songs, films and stories of the local communities.
This year, we throw the spotlight on the Indian community in Singapore, with a big musical concert “Taj Mahal – The Romance of India” that will be staged on Sunday, 28 August 2011 at the Esplanade Concert Hall. The idea for this concert is to perform original live background music for the 1928 silent film “Shiraz” which tells the poignant tale of the Taj Mahal. PA has invited Mr Bharadwaj, an established music director from the Indian cinema industry, to help us conceptualize and compose music for this project. Although the theme is Indian, the concert will be performed by a 70 member multi-ethnic orchestra comprising the Singapore Indian Orchestra as well as western strings, brass/wind, Middle-eastern and Chinese instruments to set a musical dialogue for the silent film. Besides 12 western vocalists, there will be 12 Indian vocalists and 5 Indian singers performing in this show.
THANK YOU! :D
